That’s right folks, we’re SUPER excited to be bringing you 5 days of awesome bracket racing from The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway at the 2021 K&N Spring Fling Million presented by Optima Batteries. While the big show starts on Wednesday, we’ll be live on Tuesday afternoon for the American Race Cars, Todd’s Extreme Custom Paint, Dragster Shootout Race. The winner will take home a rolling American Race Cars 240″ Dragster chassis with a complete custom paint job by Todd’s. This is a big shootout for 32 cars and will be the perfect way to start off the weekend here in Vegas.

We will be live Tuesday afternoon, and then all day Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for all the racing action. Check out the flyer below for details on the payout and event prizes, but know that Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday racers will be going after $30,000 to win. Friday is the big money Million race which has a guaranteed purse of $250,000 to the winner regardless of entries. We’re pretty sure this race is going to be off the hook based on our last west coast race this year. Given the fact that all the heavy hitters are heading cross country for it as well, this promises to be one hell of an event.

Rocky Mountain Race Week AND Road Week Registration Is Open! Sign Up Now!

If you dream of driving your hot rod cross country, racing it each and every day, and meeting all kinds of other people that are doing the same thing, then Rocky Mountain Race Week is the event for you. And if you want to go hang out with your friends that are doing it, or just want to follow along to witness the insanity, then sign up too! Rocky Mountain Race Week has two entry options. The Race option and the Road option. Either one offers you the trip of a lifetime and stories for days. And did we mention beautiful scenery and a drive you’ll never forget? Yeah, this is the drag and drive event of 2021 and we’ll be there so you should be too!

Registration starts today and if you want your shot at this great trip in June, then now is the time to sign up. There are classes for everything from your 14 second daily driver to your 5 second street race car, and everything in between. It is spectacle on wheels, the circus your parents warned you about, and a test of true grit for racers. LT Asks: The Actual Cost of Turbocharging a Big Block 8.1: Should I have built an LS instead?

I’m a big fan of LS engines, and they are all the rage, but some people can’t stand them because they ARE so popular. Some think there is no other engine on earth that can compete with them. I happen to be a fan of horsepower, so I know there are a lot of great platforms for making it out there. With that said, I’m a Chevrolet guy to the core so I tend to lean towards Big Blocks, LS, and small-block Chevrolets. I own all three, in different vehicles, and I have plans for building at least one of each in 2021, including a possible turbocharged big block for a tow rig build. So you can imagine my intrigue when I saw that LT had a new video out with details on the costs involved in his turbo 8.1 build.

Keep in mind, that this project is a work in progress and that this 8.1 has had very little upgrades to the stock engine, as it will come out later and be built to make 1,000 horsepower to the wheels. So don’t confuse this with a build designed to see how much power you can make before it breaks. This is not that, and in this iteration it has very low boost.

Everyone wants to turbocharge their car or truck, right? But the real question is what should it cost. If you can buy a turbo kit for your car or truck, the answer is simple, but if you have to build a one-off kit, the answer can vary widely but in this upload, I’m going over the real, out-of-pocket costs that I spend on Uglytruck. The second part of the discussion is should I have stuck with the 5.3 LS that was under the hood originally or was it worth my time to swap and turbo the 8.1?

Murder Nova’s F1X ProCharged 1955 Chevrolet Is Hitting The Dyno! E85 And No Intercooler. What Will It Make?

We shared the first drive of Shawn’s 1955 Chevy, after it had sat for 11 years, and couldn’t be happier with the giant grin on his face. I know what that’s like, and am stoked that he’s got this bitchin ride back up and running. The fact that it uses the same F1X ProCharger that we’re using on Ethyl, also makes me happy. When we had the F1A94 on the car we also ran it on E85 with no intercooler, so I know that you can make real power with that setup. This one should make real power as well. So what will it make? Will Shawn be happy? I’m not going to spoil it for you, because you need to watch it yourself, but I can tell you that this combo is capable of making well over 1,000 horsepower at the tire. Actually a few hundred more than 1,000 is doable with that blower. Can they do it without an intercooler though?

I like intercooled combos, don’t get me wrong, but running on E85 without an intercooler can be done pretty easily as well. And without all that extra plumbing and such, it is a much simpler system to install. And don’t forget, most turbocharged race cars running methanol don’t use an intercooler because the alcohol itself lowers intake temps so much that an intercooler is just extra weight with little reward. E85 isn’t quite as good as methanol at cooling the intake charge, but it is damn close.

I’ve driven dragsters, but my first love are door cars. They are fun, can be as quick as you want to go, and they just feel right. I do like the occasional roadster as well, but prefer those with the driver on one side or the other instead of sitting in the middle like a funny car or altered. Good thing for me that the American Door Slammer Nationals are LIVE this weekend thanks to our friends at MotorManiaTV. Any door car. Any left hand drive roadster. Any reason to have fun. This is a must watch event that you won’t want to miss this weekend.

Held at the famed Piedmont Dragway, this Loose Rocker Promotions event is one of the highlights of 2020. During a year where we have all been cooped up and have had so many cancelled events, this is one of those that feels really good to see happening before we get into the final weekends of racing for 2020. This is going to be a year to remember for sure, and whoever wins this event is going to remember it because of the real money they got to put into their pocket.

SDBA Drag Boat Races Will Be LIVE Here On BANGshift Starting Sunday Morning!

That’s right folks, we’ve got more Southern Drag Boat Association racing coming to you live right here at BANGshift.com. We were live Saturday morning and will be live again Sunday morning around 9 am Central Time. We had an awesome time bringing you their Paris Texas event a few months ago and are happy to announce that their El Reno Oklahoma event this Saturday and Sunday will be LIVE in it’s entirety right here! We cannot stress enough just how cool it is to watch the drag boats hauling ass across the water. We’re talking 3 second 1/8 mile boats, and all kinds of combinations. Hydros, Jets, Flat bottoms, Pro Mods, Super Stock, and so much more. The racing action is fun, the scenery is cool, and the people are an absolute riot.

When we did the event in Paris, the welcome that we got from everyone at the SDBA, and the racers in general, was absolutely amazing. They treated us like family, fed us, welcomed us with open arms, and were so genuinely thrilled to have us on site that most were acting like kids in a candy store.

This weekend is supposed to be in the low 80’s, with great conditions for racing on the water, and I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of record breaking runs we might see. Tune in Saturday morning, at 8 am Central, as we kick off the racing action. You won’t want to miss it.

Rocky Mountain Race Week 2.0 Continues Today! Watch All The FREE LIVE STREAMING VIDEO THIS AFTERNOON!

It’s time for Rocky Mountain Race Week 2.0 folks and that means killer street car drag racing starting today! When Hot Rod Magazine cancelled Drag Week 2020, Rocky Mountain Race Week Promoter, Matt Frost, jumped in to get something going for all those racers that had already taken the time off work and planned their trips. While it won’t follow the same route, or visit the same tracks, as Drag Week, it will happen on the same days and is going to feature some kick ass hot rods driving from track to track and racing every evening. And you can follow along by watching all our live streaming video, or you can go out to the track and watch in person! Click the link below to watch all the live racing action all week.

Starting out at Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway park this evening, the racing will go on tonight and then continue Monday at Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka Kansas, then travel to Thunder Valley Raceway Park in Oklahoma Tuesday, and then up to S.R.C.A Dragstrip in Great Bend Kansas on Wednesday, before returning to Tulsa Thursday to wrap up 5 days or drag racing and street driving. It isn’t going to be easy on the competitors, but it sure will be fun to watch!

Racing will be live from 4-10 pm Sunday through Wednesday and 3-9 pm on Thursday.

This event has been going on for the last three years and has a guaranteed purse of the previously mentioned $20,000 today and $10,000 Sunday. When you add in Friday’s $10,000 prize it’s a pretty lucrative weekend if someone can double up or sweep all three days. $40,000 isn’t anything to sneeze at, that’s for sure.

For the last few years people have been talking about putting on big money bracket races just for the Jr. Dragster crowd, and to answer that call is The Summer Blast race at Beaver Springs Dragway where Jr. Dragster racers will be going after $10,000! Can you imagine winning $10,000 at 10 years old? Or even at 15? Hell no, but these kids are going for it. We’re talking big stakes, killer reaction times, and family for for the weekend. It’s The Summer Blast and all the action is live right here thanks to our friends at MotorManiaTV. What I love about this race is that there is nothing else going down the track that the Jr. Dragster drivers have to play second fiddle to. This is their chance to be the stars, outside of the Jr. Finals and those kinds of points races. This is all about them, the way it should be, and I imagine the energy there is intense and fun. I bet the parent crew chiefs are feeling the pressure today too!

New Project Alert! Motion Raceworks Kick Off The Drag Week/Rocky Mountain Race Week Extreme Blazer Project!

Before too long everyone at Motion Raceworks is going to have a car ready to run on Rocky Mountain Race Week and Drag Week! They’ve been getting Novas and GTOs ready and now it’s time for the S10 contingent to get some more love. The guys at Motion have been building S10 parts for some time, but the are putting even more work into them and using this test bed to develop new parts, give tech lesson on their Tech Tuesday video series, and more. Plus it’s going to be rad and fun! What’s not to love about that? I mean isn’t that enough reason to build something? We think so, and so do they and since we have our own S1o Blazer project in the works it will be fun to have both of them out there running the Motion M on the side and having some wheelstanding fun at the drag strip.

In this video the guys introduce the project, argue about how much it weighs, how much it will weigh, talk about getting skinnier themselves, and overall have some fun tearing into the new project. I LOVE this video because most of it happened while Doug and Andy were on Rocky Mountain Race Week a few weeks ago and it gives you an awesome look into the other guys of Motion Race Works. I am super glad to call these dudes friends, have a great time traveling to events and shows with them, and can tell you that I laughed a bunch while watching this one because it reminds me of every time I’m with them.
